“Auto-Login” in Slackware 13.0

To auto login a normal user in Slackware 13.0:

  1. Edit /etc/inittab
  2. c1:1235:respawn:/sbin/agetty -n -l /usr/local/sbin/autologin 
    38400 tty1 linux
    

  3. Edit /etc/login.defs
  4. NO_PASSWORD_CONSOLE tty1
    

  5. Create /usr/local/sbin/autologin file:
  6. #!/bin/sh
    login -f REPLACE_YOUR_USER_NAME_HERE
